Livia is the 8th generation working in this cantina, founded in 1820. The wines have attained a somewhat cult status in recent years. The vineyard holdings are impressive to say the least and the style here is one of dark, brooding fruit but with a florality and acidity that keeps everything fresh and focussed.

Lush red cherries are loaded here with violets and roses, balsamic whiffs and a graphite touch. The attack is smooth with medium body and ripe, velvety tannins. Cola flavors and a refreshing finish. Juicy and easy to drink. Drink or hold.
Castiglione Falletto. Very pale ruby. Earthy with the merest suggestion of dried fruit and marasca cherry, but much less evolved than this sounds. Lively acidity and bags of chewy tannins. The same slow aromatic build-up as their Fontanin and with raspberry mingling with dried-fruit hints and plenty of freshness on the finish. 2024-2036.
