The 2021 Noble Late Harvest was picked in mid-May via several passes through the vineyard, basket pressed for two days, then fermented and aged for 36 months in new Frenach oak. It has an attractive nose with fig jam, quince and light marmalade scents, very pure and maybe a little more delineated than the previous vintage. The palate is very well balanced with Seville orange on the entry, possessing wonderful tension and purity through the fresh, slightly Tokaji-like finish. This has more to offer than the 2020 and comes recommended.
The only wine at Boekenhoutskloof that comes from the vineyards around the winery, this late-picked Semillon was affected by what Gottried Mocke calls "clean botrytis". More Jurançon than Sauternes in style, it has pear tart and crystallised fruit flavours, subtle vanilla and cinnamon spices from new barrels and a lovely interplay between 156 grams of sugar and racy acidity. 2025-30
