The quality at this estate has exploded in the past few years and, having previously flown under the radar, the wines are attracting lots of attention and scores to boot. The style here embraces the florality and elegance of La Morra but there is more texture and weight than other estates in the commune. For fans of La Morra looking for more oomph.

The compelling 2021 Paiagallo from Mauro Veglio captivates with its intense fragrance of iris, violet, perfumed berry and camphor. Smooth, full-bodied and utterly delicious, the polished palate is still young but already shows intensity and depth, delivering ripe raspberry, cherry compote, crushed mint and star anise set against firm, refined tannins. It’s well balanced, with good acidity that will propel it forward for years. Drink 2031–2046.
