Pinot Noir Vrede, Storm Wines 2023

Tasting Notes

Picking before the rain was very important in 2023 and Hannes Storm did just that. Vrede comes from a 3.6-hectare block planted with the 113, 115 and 777 clones on Bokkeveld shale and is generally the most opulent of his three single-site Pinots. Savoury fleshy and slightly ferrous, it has layers of rose petal, wild strawberry and orange zest and refined, detailed tannins. 2024-31

Translucent ruby colour with a bright, perfumed nose of red fruit, flowers and lightly caramelised berries. The palate is slick and well defined, notes of raspberry, strawberry and more of those caramelised fruit tones coming together with pressed flowers and redolent woody herbs. This is a vibrant, sweetly fragrant wine with an immediacy and supple texture.
