The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is hauntingly dark and pleasantly rich, with an attractive bouquet of balsamic black cherries, rubbed sage, dark chocolate and spiced orange. It is soft-textured but quickly builds tension as nuances of sour citrus blend with tart wild berry fruits and mineral tones. Painfully young, the 2020 leaves edgy tannins and a tart cranberry resonance.
