Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot Tête du Clos, Ballot-Millot 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots La Tête du Clos 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with beautifully integrated oak, wonderful mineralité and a palpable sense of tension. The aromatics here brush off the warmth of that summer. The palate is slightly viscous on the entry, concentrated with good weight in the mouth. This is not a subtle 2019, but everything here is correctly proportioned, though it seems to fade and simplify in the glass to the point that it eventually lags behind the best in the flight. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2026-2050)

A fuller yellow in colour. The nose is quite hidden but may suggest some alcohol. A broad base of white fruit on the palate. This builds extremely well. Perhaps not the most nuanced, but the fruit content can manage the alcohol and the length is excellent. The alcohol takes it down a point or two and there are some more late picked notes.
