The 2024 Grüner Veltliner Steinertal, from Pichler's coolest site, remains shy on the nose, revealing only a touch of creaminess. Smoothness, yeastiness and slenderness define the palate, where white pepper shimmers gently. Flowing and gentle, the palate needs time to come out of its shell, but a vestige of zest and pepper on the finish points the way.
This is an elegant and refreshing white, creamy and textured at the same time, with a medium to full body, mouthwatering acidity and citrusy and minerally coolness throughout. Brimming with grapefruit, fresh herbs, lemons, wet stones and peaches. Very long, with a touch of crushed rock and green tea at the end. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
