Chenin Blanc Riverside, Keermont Vineyards 2022

Tasting Notes

The 2022 Chenin Blanc Single Vineyard Series Riverside was cropped at a "decent yield," according to winemaker Alex Starey. From a single block planted in 1971, with 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, this is very perfumed on the nose with pressed white flower and light flinty notes from a touch of reduction. The palate is very well balanced, with quite intense yellow fruit, pear and stem ginger scents. This is very harmonious, with a superb line of acidity, a classy Chenin to drink over the next decade. Drink: 2025-2038

Alex Starey is best known for his Syrahs, but this Chenin Blanc is not far behind them in quality. Sourced from a very old block, it's a layered, naturally fermented style with flavours of nectarine and yellow apple, a splash of peach syrup, nuanced oak and a refreshing finish. 2025-33.
