The 2019 Cabernet Franc Single Vineyard Series Pondokrug comes from a parcel above the winery on fine clay. It contains 15% whole bunch and aged for 22 months in oak barriques. Alex Starey mentioned that he picked it earlier to rein in the alcohol. It offers black fruit, wild mint and light loamy scents on the nose, though maybe it doesn't quite possess the complexity of the previous vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with a menthol-tinged entry, fine depth and a "cool" and linear finish. Drink: 2024-2030
