Echézeaux, Domaine Jean Grivot 2007

Tasting Notes

Here the nose is a bit more expressive with a discreet application of wood spice highlighting the earth, crushed herbs and underbrush-suffused ripe dark berry aromas that precede the rich, intense and big-bodied flavors that culminate in a linear and velvety yet youthfully austere finish that goes on and on. This is a relatively expansive Echézeaux yet it remains focused and tight and this too should benefit from at least a decade of cellar time as the fine tannins presently evidence a hint of bitterness on the finish.

An expression of darker fruit-blackberry, black cherry and black currant-exudes from this seductive red, which has plenty of tannins, both from the grape and oak, so be patient. There's fine length, with sweetness and mineral. Best from 2014 through 2025.
