This is the first wine in the range to display any appreciable wood influence as it mixes with, but does not dominate, the ripe purple fruit nose where additional breadth is present in the form of iron-inflected earth, spice and a floral hint. There is excellent intensity to the overtly muscular yet refined middle weight flavors that finish with plenty of the classic youthful Clos de Vougeot character of austerity. This beautifully persistent built-to-age effort is quite serious and is noticeably more backward than the Echézeaux. Drink: 2020+
