Tasting Notes

The 2016 Barolo “Rocche dell’Annunziata” from Renato Molino is another stellar young Barolo. True to the vintage characteristics, the 2016 is a bit deeper and more structured than the 2017, offering up a superb bouquet of red and black cherries, gamebird, camphor, summer truffles, a gorgeous base of soil, fresh herb tones, a touch of red curry, roses, anise, fresh oregano, bonfire and the first autumnal shadings that will come to define the wine aromatically in the long run. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, deep and soil-driven, with a beautiful core of sweet fruit, ripe, well-integrated tannins, excellent focus and grip, seamless balance and a very long, complex and refined finish. This is inherently a touch more elegant than the 2016 Barolo normale from Renato Molino, but in terms of ultimate quality, they are very close! Drink between 2036-2090.
