This has the wow factor; it's very impressive. The nose is saturated with dark, rich plums and wet-earth aromas, not to mention the roasted-coffee and crushed-violet undertones. The palate has polished, lustrous appeal, and dark plums and ripe blueberry flavors abound. Long, deep-set tannins with incredible depth. This has x-factor depth and elegance. Best from 2025.
Tasted blind. Mid crimson. Unusual top note of green apples. Very rich and sweet and flattering on the palate, though the tannins are a bit rustic. Not the most refreshing…
Drink 2023-2030
A monumental wine is the 2015 Hosanna and it’s 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc raised in (I suspect) all new barrels that’s from a single parcel of older vines. One of those rare wines to pair incredible opulence with off the charts elegance and purity, it’s up with the top handful of wines in this vintage and readers should do whatever they can to taste this beauty. Loaded with notions of blackcurrants, black raspberries, toasty oak, truffles, graphite, and spice-box, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, an ethereal, seamless texture, perfect balance, and a huge finish. It’s unquestionably one of the superstars in the vintage and should last for 25-30 years. Hats off to the Moueix team! 2020 - 2050
The fruit on the nose is ripe and sweet the start of the palate is rich the mid palate supple with ripe black plum. There is freshness under the sweet fruit brighter at the back with the richness giving depth on the finish. 2025-36
One of the few Moueix wines that I (slightly) preferred in 2014, this may just need more time.
Structured and firm with lots of smoky oak, firmish tannins and dark, plummy concentration
supported by the graphite freshness of the Cabernet Franc. Drink: 2022-35
A structured, powerful wine which doesn’t hold back on the oak, Hosanna is a big-boned beast in 2015 and it will require
10-15 years for this wine to mellow. The fruit is delectable but it is cloaked in raw tannin and no matter how much I
tried to aerate the wine in my glass it stubbornly held onto its austere finish. Given time this will be a temptress but it is
awkward and abrupt right now.
The 2015 Hosanna is a blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc. Now Hosanna is usually quite exuberant on the nose at this early stage, however, this is a very different Hosanna - much more reserved and introverted, yet still complex with a melange of black fruit, undergrowth, truffle and brine aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, plenty of truffle-tinged fruit, a lovely spicy edge and a persuasive peacock's tail finish that lingers long in the mouth while maintaining wonderful freshness. This is an outstanding Hosanna from the JP Moueix team, perhaps the first vintage to really convince me of its greatness since its debut. Drink 2023-2050.
This has the creamy magic texture of all superb 2015 Pomerol. Full and ultra-velvety with a creamy, minerally and citrus rind mouth feel. Amazing depth of fruit. A triumph. 82% merlot and 18% cabernet franc.
Mid ruby. Broad and floral on the nose. Good attack though a little moderate in impact. Not a blockbuster! But very gentle and mild. Appetising.
