Inky ruby. Assertive, mineral- and spice-accented cherry and cassis scents are complemented by hints of cedary oak, succulent herbs and candied flowers. Concentrated bitter cherry, dark berry and chewing tobacco flavors are sweetened by hints of mocha and vanilla that build in the background. Shows very good depth as well as energy and finishes long and smooth, with fine-grained tannins adding shape and final grip. 2023-2033
From a dry vintage, with Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted on deep alluvial soils, winemaker Miguel Torres describes this as: 'A very classic vintage of Mas La Plana.' Black fruit aromas – blackberry, blackcurrant – some blackcurrant leaf, coffee and dark chocolate hints. Complex, layered palate, with mouth-filling black fruit, plum, liquorice, very elegant tannins and well integrated oak (18 months in French oak, 85% new). Very smooth and balanced, showing considerable freshness and finesse. (Drink between 2020-2032)
