Tasting Notes

The 2022 Croix Canon has turned out beautifully, mingling aromas of dark berries and cherries with hints of orange rind and petals. Medium to full-bodied, succulent and seamless, with a rich core of fruit, lively acids and a long, aromatic finish, it will offer a broad drinking window. As I've written before, recent vintages of this cuvée have confirmed its status as one of Bordeaux's finest second labels (though since it derives from dedicated holdings below Berliquet, it's not a "second wine" in the strict sense). 2025 - 2040

The 2022 Croix Canon presents an intense, beautifully defined and initially mineral-driven bouquet featuring subtle floral scents. There is real energy here. The medium-bodied palate is almost brittle in texture, featuring crushed stone on the entry. It’s tensile on the crunchy, very pure finish that embodies Cabernet Franc. This is excellent. 2030 - 2050

Lightly reductive with a floral touch to the ripe but fresh fruit and a touch of white pepper. Quite refined. Nicely chewy with medium to full body and a compact finish of good length. Needs some time in bottle. Drink from 2027.

A terrific effort that will likely number among the values of the vintage, the 2022 Croix Canon offers up aromas of dark berries, petals and warm spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate framed by supple tannins and concluding with a saline finish. It will offer a broad drinking window.

Very fine and polished with sweet tobacco and chocolate with green olives. Currants. Medium-bodied with fine and polished tannins with a lovely length. Friendly nature to this. Turns slightly salty. 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc.
