A deep ruby in the glass, this latest vintage of Carignan shows off 2020's purity and chiselled fruit. The nose leads with notes of cool blackcurrant, slick black cherry and a little wood spice. The palate is direct but delicious, with crunchy black fruits, light notes of cedar and pencil shavings and a purity of structure. The tannins are chalky as one would expect from the vintage, but here they knit well into the fruit despite the youthfulness of the wine. Vigorous, vertical and moreish, this is another excellent effort, translating the vintage effortlessly into the glass without sacrificing the house's approachability.
