Roussanne Tinus Coteau de l'Aigle, Guffens aux Tourettes 2023

Tasting Notes

In 1997 Jean-Marie and Maine Guffens purchased Chateau des Tourettes near the village of Apt in Northern Provence. The vines are planted at an elevation of 420 metres and this Roussanne comes from cuttings of the old vines at Beaucastel. They are located in his best vineyard - and the wine is named after his grandfather - Tinus. Hand-harvested and fermented in tulip-shaped concrete. The wines was then aged on lees in concrete tanks with no oak barrels used. Bright lemon-gold in colour. The nose here is full of beeswax, peaches, tangerines and heather honey, ripe and full of Roussanne character. The palate follows in the same vein, with notes of marmalade and quince, honeysuckle and dried peach. This is peppery and full of wild herbs, a complex, full-bodied and rich wine. Gourmand and ready to drink.
