Tasting Notes

The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières (Domaine Louis Jadot) is showing beautifully, bursting with aromas of pear and peach mingled with white flowers and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, it's lively and precise, with a long, saline finish.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, January 2025

A little more yellow in colour, not quite so fresh a nose. This Genevrières has the juniper touch on the palate, more restrained than Charmes, and keeps the tension, plus length in the mouth. One of the earliest to be picked, with Combettes, in order to retain acidity.

92/94
Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, October 2024

Voluptuous, buttery and rich, with aromas of ripe apples, almonds and a touch of honey. At this stage, it is showing a bit more influence from cask ageing, although this will likely fade over time. The texture is richer than the Charmes, rich and creamy. This is a hedonistic wine, but there is just enough acidity to bring it into balance. Winemaker Frédéric Barnier blocked the malolactic conversion to retain freshness, and it has made an appreciable difference. (Drink between 2025-2040)
