The 2022 Saint-Aubin Pitangerets comes from chalky soils in a cool microclimate. This has a pleasant bouquet with apple blossom and orange pith; there’s just a little reduction to contend with. The palate is well-balanced with tangerine, nectarine and a twist of lemon peel. Very focused with an energetic, joyful finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2035)
This premier cru is located at the base of the slope, on the border with Chassagne; Thierry Pillot notes that the soil is rife with limestone pebbles. The terroir has produced a wine in 2022 with alluring tropical fruit aromas and hints of linden flowers, smoke and spice. The texture is rich and dense, but a lively acidity draws the wine to a lingering finish. The domaine farms a half-hectare here, which Pillot ferments in used casks both large and small to deliver this winning wine. (Drink between 2025-2045)
