Tasting Notes

The 2013 Barolo Riserva Vigna Elena shows all of the classic austerity that is such a signature of the year. Bright red cherry, pomegranate, mint, chalk and blood orange fill out the wine's frame effortlessly. Readers will have to give the 2013 a number of years to soften, but it is seriously impressive today. Drink between 2023-2043.

Novello, Ravera cru. Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Enormous concentration of perfumed fruit with real depth. Perfumed raspberry with a chalky minerally note, ethereal with hints of cardamom. Flowery lift. Changes all the time in the glass. Supple and elegant yet full and with loads of finely chiselled tannins. Sensational balance and length. Drink between 2022-2036.
