Tasting Notes

The 2024 Suduiraut enjoyed an early development of botrytis in mid-September, so there is no passerillage. The second and third tries in mid-October formed the heart of the wine. It is very pure on the nose, less intense than the previous two vintages, offering wild honey, peach skin and light nectarine scents. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity. It is not as dense or unctuous as recent vintages, but there is wonderful tension with a pure and quite sensual finish. Excellent. 130g/l residual sugar.2025 - 2055

Shiny gold in the glass. This has a waxy, broad nose with ginger syrup, fresh pastries and confit citrus on the nose. The palate has the same waxy breadth, showing honeysuckle and more of that ginger syrup, but there are brighter notes of roasted white peaches and spicy poaching liquor - cinnamon, cloves and mace all come through. This is a complex, layered Suduiraut with real potential.

Erupts from the glass with powerful notes of lemon marmalade, lime cordial, and candied ginger, giving way to suggestions of candied orange peel, allspice, and beeswax. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate delivers beautiful harmony with a racy backbone and creamy texture, finishing long and spicy.

100% Semillon, aging in French oak barrels, 50% new, for 16-20 months. 130 g/l RS. pH 3.83.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, May 2025

This really is charming, full of marmalade and orange zest, saffron and lime, bitter finish in the best way, gives focus and rises up through the palate. 4.1 TA. 3.83 pH. 130 g/l. 50% new oak. Four passes through the vineyard through to 3rd week of October, with 2nd and 3rd being the heart. Pierre Montegut technical director across both Suduiraut and Pichon Baron. 11.3hl/h yield. Lovely, softly spoken, not the intensity of 2022, but just thoroughly appealing. Eric Boissenot consultant, as at Pichon and at Noval in Portugal.

The 2024 Suduiraut offers up a beguiling mix of passion fruit, mango, pineapple and tangerine oil. Even with 130 grams of residual sugar, the 2024 is not an especially opulent Sauternes. I especially admire its freshness. What a beautiful and expressive wine. 2030-2054.

Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, April 2025

The complete opposite of the 2022 vintage. Fresher and less unctuous, with more delicate fruit, but there is still plenty of botrytis. Spices, sweet pineapple, lemons, marmalade, wax, fresh mangoes and bitter herbs. Medium lusciousness, with a round, creamy finish. 130 grams of sugar.
