Harvested from 22nd September, the nose on the Fleur de Gay 1998 is still quite tight and takes time to unfurl: dark berries, boysenberry, tertiary aromas developing: refined and elegant but teasing at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, good mineralite and still tightly coiled towards the tannic finish. Lovely mineral rich dark berried fruit here, mingling with raspberry, pastille and limestone. This needs another ten years in bottle. Tasted June 2011.
