This 17.5 hectare vineyard sits on the edge of the Pomerol plateau and quality has improved recently since the purchase of the estate by the owners of Galleries Lafayette and the Cathiard family of Smith Haut Lafitte. The vines average 35 years and the 2018 blend is 70% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Very pretty and refined with a lovely core of ripe fruit and chocolate. Hints of cedar. Medium body, fine tannins and a juicy finish.
The 2018 Beauregard is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it springs from the glass with lively notes of raspberry pie, ripe blackberries and plum preserves, plus suggestions of pencil shavings, dusty soil and crushed rocks. The palate is medium-bodied, softly textured and delivers open-knit black and red fruit flavors with just enough lift on the mid-palate and finish to give it compelling vivacity. 2022 - 2038.
75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc; 50% new oak. Barrel sample.
Black core, purple rim. Elderberry and blueberry – thus both fresh and sweet. I don't know what has happened here but it is really not good on the palate: hard and bitter. (JH) 14%

Deep ruby in colour with creamy cherry fruit and a touch of blackcurrant leaf on the nose. The palate is clean, compact and fresh, with vibrant red and black fruits at the plump core. The tannins are chalky and in proportion with the fruit, giving a medium bodied and elegant structure. A little toasty, spicy oak on the finish adds to the complexity and gives a sweet exuberant edge.
The 2018 Château Beauregard is a deep, concentrated Pomerol that’s going to benefit from bottle age. Classic notes of dark fruits, toasted spiced, roasted herbs and cedar all give way to a medium to full-bodied 2018 that offers a big mid-palate, nicely integrated acidity, and ripe tannins. It’s a touch primordial, but it has class and balance and is going to come together beautifully in bottle. The blend of the 2018 is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.
Viticulture at Beauregard is organic, as at the sister property Smith Haut Lafitte, but Beauregard only lost about 15% of the crop to mildew. Composed of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Beauregard develops slowly to reveal a core of blackberry compote, plum preserves and blueberry pie with touches of smoked meats, tobacco, baking spices, yeast extract and fragrant earth. Full, rich, velvety and packed with rich, expressive black fruit preserves, it has plenty of freshness, finishing long and spicy.
