In contrast to the powerful, tannic 1996, the 1995 is a silky, supple, charming, forthcoming wine that is well above its Cru Bourgeois classification. The color is a healthy saturated deep ruby/purple, and the wine offers up gobs of jammy black fruits intermixed with subtle herbs, spice, and toast. In the mouth, the wine displays excellent richness, a layered, medium-bodied personality, well-disguised tannin and acidity, and a hedonistic mouth-feel. A sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Last tasted, 1/01.
