A richer purple and a fuller riper nose, if less fine. Sumptuous but chunky with drier tannins, still quite impressive but it struggles after the perfect balance shown by the Chapelle-Chambertin Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Oct 2024.
Les Baudes sits below Bonnes Mares, near Morey, and you can sense that in the wine this year from Jadot. It takes a little coaxing from the glass but shows pithy plum and cherry fruit together with some savoury wood spice. The palate too is quite tightly coiled, with crunchy tannins that offer grip, enveloping the fruit. This is quite strict and dense for Chambolle, and I expect it will need time in bottle to flourish.
