It has again turned out one of the vintage's finest wines. The opaque purple-colored 1997 Cos D'Estournel offers up a gorgeously sweet nose consisting of ripe blak currant fruit, Provençal olives, smoked herbs, pain grillé and licorice. Rich and powerful, as well as elegant and stylish, the wine possesses plenty of fat, in addition to layers of fruit and glycerin. It is an intensely charming, graceful yet impressively-endowed Cos that should be , because of its low acidity and sweet tannin, delicious when young. Anticipated maturity : 2000-2016.
