This late release from Jean-Marie Guffens is a brilliant introduction to the domaine's wines at an affordable price point. It is composed of the first pressings (i.e. second juice after the free-run for the top bottlings), from the Macon, Saint Veran and Pouilly Fuisse bottlings. The result is a lightly golden hue in the glass and a distinctly Guffens nose - ripe and rounded, lightly creamy and powerful in stone fruit. The palate is smooth, rounded and polished, a lick of spice rounding the edges and a light chalkiness in texture adding intrigue. Above all, though, this wine is simply a delicious drink, supple, ready and full of personality. Enjoy it over the next five years.
