Sercial, Henriques & Henriques 1928

Tasting Notes

The 1928 Sercial was always kept in oak, as they do not use glass demijohns. Therefore, it's a beast of concentration that evolved in a singular way, sharp and herbal. It feels dry, sharp and salty. It has 12.8 grams of acidity and two grams of volatile acidity and "only" 46 grams of sugar. 1,333 individually numbered bottles were produced. It was bottled in 2021, and the back label has the exact bottling date. Drink: 2022-2045

Bottled in 2021, tasted this with Humberto Jardim in the same year: golden amber in hue; ethereal on the nose, lithe and lifted (2g/l volatile acidity) with a lovely, very typical green-floral character and a touch of toffee underlying; still astoundingly fresh with well-defined greengage fruit (46g/l residual sugar) and nervy acidity that penetrates the finish (12 g/l total acidity). Long and linear: goes on and on.
