Shows pungent, lifted aromas initially, suggesting menthol or mint along with butterscotch. Then it explodes on the palate, full of butterscotch flavor that's mouthcoating without being heavy or cloying. Firm, intense and laserlike, leaving an intriguing smokiness on the finish.
Pale mahogany in colour. The nose is mature and expansive, full of roasted nuts, preserved lemons and old wood. This is intense, piercing and layered, expanding as it warms in the glass. The palate has Sercial's textbook acidity and salinity, mouthwatering and lipsmacking in nature and hugely intense in fruit. Preserved lemons, library books, tobacco and salt all come through, focused and refreshing with such power and focus. The finish is minutes long, perceptibly dry, mingling fruit with the savoury weight of age. Outstanding.
