Côte Rôtie La Landonne, Domaine René Rostaing 2004

Tasting Notes

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Cote Rotie La Landonne reveals a scorched earth, meaty, primordial, broodingly backward character as well as black fruits, and tannin as well as body. This serious Cote Rotie will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 10-15 years.

Medium red. Intense, spicy red fruit aromas-especially raspberry-complicated by dried flowers and pungent herbs. Silky and suave, with sweet red berry flavors and the lightest hint of mocha. The youthfully taut, fresh finish shows a persistent raspberry tone.

(From vines averaging 35 years of age). Dark red color. Subdued nose hints at cherry, red plum and fresh flowers, with a white pepper accent Almost Burgundian in weight and texture, with fine, precise cherry and currant fruit flavors tinged by oak spice. Finishes on a crisp note of minerals.
