A solid dark red colour with only a slight fade at the rim. The nose is classic blackcurrant with a hint of vanilla spice. On the palate this is mouthfilling with masses of dense black cassis fruit and a serious tannic structure with a strong backbone keeping the fruit firmly under control. This certainly tastes more like it comes from Pauillac than Perpignan. Along with the cassis there are flavours of black olives, damsons and licorice. The wine is fine, focussed and admirably pure. There is plenty of richness but it is the iron grip that ensures that this could never be mistaken for a New World wine. A firm and solid expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink 2011-2016
