Tiny yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare have produced a wine with terrific fruit intensity, a moderately tannic structure, and hints of chocolate, cedar, spice box, and earth. Although not as big as I expected given the vintage, it is well-made and impressively endowed. Enjoy it over the next 12 years. (Tasted four times.) Drink 2010-2022.
Tasted at Canon-la-Gaffeliere, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, cropped between 1st and 14th October, this has a ripe rounded bouquet with blackberry, crème de cassis, orange peel and a touch of allspice. Good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, but there is also a complementary softness to the texture that fits in nicely around the firmness of the structure. This is a well crafted Saint Emilion, unpretentious and fresh on the finish. Very fine. Tasted March 2010.
Spearmint, vanilla bean and dried dark fruits on the nose follow through to a full body, with silky tannins and a fruity finish. Still in reserve, but excellent
Very fresh and lively, rude berries and fresh and dry. Punchy but dry on the finish. Date tasted 28th March 2010. Drink 2014-2024.
Rich and powerful but with a minerally freshness that provides balance. Red fruit aromas. Generous fruit on the palate. Needs a little time. Drink 2014-2020.
Alluring aromas and flavors of toast, mineral and roasted plum are
expressive and energetic in this rich, modern red. The texture is
broad yet polished, with well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity.
Drink now through 2019.
