Proust noted that hail damage ruined about 15% of the crop but
that Bouchard took no chances and declassified about 50% of the total. Relatively strong reduction dominates the nose
though there is ample body and richness to the suave yet precise flavors that exude a fine minerality on the very ripe finish
that offers excellent volume if less complexity than usual. This is also extremely ripe and some, including me, will likely find it
to be a bit too much so. (89-92)/2021+
Good dark red. Very ripe, complex aromas of black cherry, licorice, stone and gingerbread, lifted by a violet topnote. Sweet, lush and generous, conveying a strong impression of dry extract. Very rich, deep, silky Volnay with a firmly tannic, very long finish. Quite suave.
