This is the ripest wine in the range with plum, mocha and notes of prune that merge into rich, powerful and impressively dense broad-shouldered flavors that possess a velvety texture on the dazzlingly persistent finish. There are plenty of fireworks with this wine and it is undeniably dramatic but it's quite a bit riper than I personally prefer and it's not clear at this early stage whether it will become port-like in time. Optimists will age the wine and pessimists will drink it young.
Bright saturated red-ruby. Superripe aromas of black cherry, blackberry, smoked meat, licorice, mocha, bitter chocolate and wild herbs. Thick on entry but fresh, with a distinct sappy quality to the flavors of black cherry and spices. Pepper and underbrush elements emerge with aeration. This really saturates the mouth and reverberates on the long, suavely tannic finish. Already quite complex.
