An airy, cool and solidly complex nose features notes of spice, earth and some initial secondary development; moreover there is virtually no vegetal component either. There is good concentration in the context of the 2004 vintage with fine detail and punch to the delicious middle weight flavors that offer excellent depth, balance and persistence, again within the norms of the vintage. This has just arrived at the front edge of its peak drinkability and could either be drunk with pleasure now or held for a few more years first. Tasted twice recently with consistent notes.
Deep, rich and well worth a premium over the Echézeaux. This offers what the Echézeaux lacks: real depth and a convincing array of exotic flavours – not to mention salve for a sore throat. Bravo! Chestnut flavours. One should wait, but one might not be able to. 2009 - 2022
