**Note: from a .33 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines in Charmes proper**
As it was even from cask, this remains brilliantly expressive with notably ripe but bright and very fresh red berry fruit, plum and warm earth aromas trimmed in a bit of wood spice. There is outstanding richness to the supple and elegantly textured middle weight flavors that possess particularly lovely balance and harmony as well as terrific length. This really fans out on the finish and while the overall impression is a bit riper than I personally prefer, I suspect that it will tighten up in a few years to become more precise and harmonious.
The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin bursts onto the palate with layers of dark, finely-knit fruit. This is an expansive, broad-shouldered wine that blossoms with notable richness and depth. The intensity of the fruit flows through gracefully to the long, intense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2029-2049.
In stark contrast to the prior wines, this is brilliantly expressive with bright and very fresh red berry fruit and earth aromas trimmed in a bit of wood spice leading to rich, supple and elegantly textured middle weight flavors that possess really lovely balance and harmony as well as terrific length. This is not an especially concentrated or powerful version of the appellation but I very much admire the impeccable concert of the fruit, structural elements and finish.
