(true Charmes, according to assistant winemaker Eric Germain): Red-ruby. Cherry, flowers and sweet oak on the nose. A seamless, sappy, fresh wine with terrific sucrosite. Silky and fresh, with no heaviness. In fact, this offers outstanding finesse for Chames. Finishes lively, fresh, firm and long, with a note of chocolate.
In contrast to the expressiveness of the prior wine, this is quite restrained with cool and pure dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with sauvage and earth hints. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the pure and intense flavors that are shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins on the balanced and long finish. This is on the juicy and generous side and in that sense it's not really a classic Charmes but this is certainly very pretty and should reward medium-term aging as well. Drink 2022+
Red fruit is very much the focus of this classic Pinot Noir. Fresh and floral, light-of-foot yet with great density. Crisp acidity, just ripe soft and powdery tannins, and a touch of vanilla from new oak. There is a blueberry note on the finish that leaves you wanting more. There is such a density of fruit to this wine, combined with a diligence and precision that makes it a classic red Burgundy.
