From the owners of Pichon-Lalande, this 2011 Haut-Medoc exhibits an attractive dark ruby/plum color as well as black currant, tobacco leaf and earthy notes, medium body, and 5-7 years of drinkability.
Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London. The 2011 Bernadotte has a well-defined, quite classy bouquet that is understated, refined and grows nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, plenty of fresh citrus-driven black fruit with fine precision on the candied finish. This is a Cru Bourgeois that goes out to please and it is well crafted, if lacking some persistency in the mouth. Tasted September 2013.
A wine that shows attractive currant and chocolate character. Medium body, with soft tannins and a delicious finish.
Fine cassis nose, lovely texture and silky yet firm with a polished long finish. Drink 2014-2022
A sleeper of the vintage, this estate, owned by the proprietors of Pichon Lalande, has produced a seductive, charming 2011. Composed of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it offers up a seductive bouquet of tobacco leaf, red and dark berry fruit, and hints of cedar, wood smoke and earth. Ripe, medium-bodied and silky smooth, this dense ruby/plum/purple-colored La Bernadotte can be enjoyed over the next 8-10 years.
The Bernadotte 2011 is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Merlot aged in one-third new oak. It has a straightforward, crisp raspberry and briary bouquet with a touch of decayed rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry, although it is missing a little depth and weight in the middle and it finishes conservatively. Tasted April 2012.
