Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Pauillac Wine Society (and Farr Vintners) is scented of pencil lead, Marmite toast and cedar chest with a core of crème de cassis, plum preserves and bay leaves plus a pleasant medicinal waft in the background. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a great core of expressive black fruits, framed by ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and earthy. 2020-2038
- This is an own-label Pauillac available from the Wine Society and Farr Vintners in the UK. (It is the same wine, available under both labels.) I was told that it is made from the press wines of one of the greatest chateaux in Bordeaux. (I can't say which chateau, but it is one that produced one of the wines of the vintage in 2010...) I thought I would review it because it represents extraordinary value and is well-worth seeking out. -
