Tasting Notes

A lightweight wine that is beginning to fade, this 2003 reveals notes of licorice, roasted herbs, loamy soil and washed-out red currants. St.-Estephe offerings tended to be impressive in 2003, but not this one. Drink it up.

Blackberry and milk chocolate aromas follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a rich, caressing finish. Pretty and delicious already. Best after 2009. 17,000 cases made.

Pale ruby. Very light nose. Lightweight suggestion of warmth. Soft, light almost as though the flavour has been baked out! Hardly any tannins left. Muddy finish, I wouldn’t pay much for this.

Spicy, soft, savory, medium to full-bodied, with a dark ruby/plum color, hints of earth, plum, and black currant fruit are present in this straightforward, easygoing wine that is best drunk over the next 5-7 years.

More restrained than some of its St.-Estephe peers, this offering exhibits a deep saturated ruby/plum/purple color as well as a sweet nose of black fruits and earth, medium body, decent acidity, fine flesh, and good follow through on the palate. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc, it will drink well for ten years.

Loads of fruit in this wine, with succulent tannins. Full-bodied, with ripe berry and light earth character. Medium finish. Exotic fruit here.
