Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru from Tollot-Beaut was showing some volatility on the nose, but underneath lie attractive red and black fruit that convey great energy and vitality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin. This is very smooth and very harmonious, silky and pure with a patina of creamy new oak on the finish. It is modern in style for sure, but well defined and long in the mouth. If you appreciate bold and brassy Corton-Bressandes, then this is for you.
The 2012 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a similar bouquet to the Corton rouge, but with just a little more vigor and erring slightly more towards a red fruit profile. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins on the entry. It has a fine citric thread but there is more structure and grip on the finish compared to the Corton Grand Cru, with a touch of spice furnishing the finish. Excellent.
