lots of new wood, with smoky, tobacco, and cedar character. Medium bodied with plenty of berry and tobacco character and a medium, succulent finish. Very good baron. Best after 2004.
Deep dark fruits, edge of brett, beautiful floral notes, fresh acidities that keep things powering along, enticing tobacco and cigar box aromatics, this is enjoyable, with appellation signature and still delivering please. 80% new oak.
The dark ruby/purple-colored Pichon Longueville Baron reveals aromas of charcoal, black currants, and sweet toasty oak. This low acid, medium-bodied, charming, lush 1999 possesses good stuffing, ripe tannin, and a moderately long finish. Enjoy it now as well as over the next 10-12 years.
A potentially outstanding effort...It has, for the third consecutive vintage, outperformed Pichon Lalande.
