This offers a stunning nose blending ginger, white minerals, grapefruit and star anise with some juicy scents of white and yellow peach and coconut. The wine is gorgeously well balanced even if not very expressive on the palate as deliciously yet creamy citrusy fruits are l ifted up by a ravishingly playful touch of zesty acidity. The finish is mouthwatering, elegant and superbly long. This is still on the shy side at the moment and only needs patience to shine. What a superb beauty! 2025-2050
The Scharzhofberger Spätlese that we tasted was also absolutely superb on both the nose and palate. The bouquet offers up a cool and classy constellation of apple,. pear, lime zest, a gorgeous base of slate and a potpourri of very gentle floral tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and feline in personality, with a fine core, ripe, seamless acids and stunning focus and grip on the poised, pure and perfectly balanced finish. This wine is very, very long and still quite primary and in need of a bit of cellaring to really blossom.
