Suave, brambly mixed summer berry fruits take center stage on the nose with a very nicely layered palate carrying fresh bright berry flavors into an upbeat finish. Smart wine. Try from 2022.
Tasted blind. Dark crimson. Light and fresh and a bit tight. Correct but certainly not opulent. Finishes suddenly.
Drink 2023-2030
Dark crimson. Refined and pure dark fruit if not yet open. Lots of freshness, the tannins dry and mildly chewy yet balanced by that almost austere dark fruit. (JH) 14%
Drink 2022-2032
Firm and fresh on the nose but the palate has depth a mix of sweet black fruits. The tannins are firm but ripe an underlying structure with cassis and black cherry richness on the finish.
Poujeaux rarely disappoints, making wines that are often of classed growth standard. This
is a dense, serious, focused claret with notes of wood smoke, black tea and blackcurrant, fine
oak and taut acidity. Drink: 2020-28
A lovely bright, focussed Poujeaux, with nice dry, but not harsh tannins, and a long, rich finish. This is a classic Poujeaux
with more length than I have seen in a good long time. It will age slowly but provide good drinking for twenty years.
The 2015 Poujeaux is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a high-toned, floral bouquet with kirsch and raspberry coulis notes, opulent for this Moulis, but it manages to retain control. The palate is chewy on the entry with mouth-coating tannin, solid in the mouth, brutish at the moment, although the finish does show satisfactory freshness, and is long and minerally. This will be intriguing once in bottle. Drink 2020-2035
Shows excellent depth of fruit with chewy and polished tannins. Full and very long. Gorgeous length.
