A discreet touch of wood sets off a solidly complex nose that consists of pear, citrus and dried acacia aromas that blend seamlessly into nicely rich, round and openly generous medium weight flavors that retain a good sense of cut and punch on the delicious and seductively textured finish. This could use a few years to develop more depth but it’s really quite pretty now. 2019+
From three plots in Vergisson (Les Crays, Les Tillets, and Vignes-dessus), this is one of the richer, more ample wines in the portfolio, bursting with ripe peach, subtle smoke and toasted wheat. It is nicely balanced, but more facile and fruit-driven than the grander Pouilly-Fuissé bottlings.
Drinking Window 2016 - 2026
Rich, ripe and toasty at first on the nose but behind there is fragrance and freshness a lime lemon mix. Rich fruit at the start ripe greengage and fleshy melon the rich fruit underpinned by freshness the back palate is lean, flinty and bright. 2017-22
A blend of 3 plots in Vergisson: les Crays, les Tillets, and Vignes-dessus. This wine was fermented in barrels with 25% new oak, followed by 10 months in barrel on the lees with no batonnage. The nose has hints of vanilla and toast underneath a ripe core of pear and white peach fruit. The palate is juicy and pure, with white stone fruit lifted by a zesty acidity. The wine smooths out on the finish to give a round, smooth and supple texture to make it perfect for drinking while it has that youthful, juicy fruit core.
