Tasted at the Syndicat de Pomerol. The Tour Maillet 2009 has a very opulent ripe nose with candied orange peel, quince, kirsch and wild strawberry. The palate is full-bodied with sweet tannins, very ripe fruit and to be honest, overpowering on the finish. I prefer the subtlety of the 2008. Tasted November 2011.
A ripe, fleshy, smoky style, with lots of fig and plum fruit pushed by roasted tobacco leaf and warm bittersweet cocoa notes. The finish lets ganache and linzer torte hang on nicely. Solid. Drink now through 2021. 1,080 cases made.
