Peach fruit aromas are at their seductive best here. The warmth of sweetly spicy and toasty oak adds plenty of interest, too. Masses of fleshy, palate-soaking presence in the mouth, while acid zips around below like an underground rail network, unseen and yet essential to everything working. The phenolics are spot on. Lemon cream finish. Drink now.
The 2015 Coddington Chardonnay is youthfully muted with subtle suggestions of lemon curd, lime leaves and grapefruit peel plus a yeasty, toasty, cedary waft. Light to medium-bodied, fine, fresh and delicate in the mouth, it delivers good citrus and yeasty notes.
Exotic white peach the nose has richness yet freshness the palate fuller with pineapple and a hint of toasty oak. There is an underlying streak of lime and lemon that cuts through the richness perfect balance the finish is fragrant and long. 2019-26
Ripe peaches and a touch of honey on the nose underneath a struck-match note that adds a lovely layer of complexity. The palate is flinty and smoky, with a ripe lemon curd flavour and an oily, viscous texture. Concentrated, ripe and intense, this is a juicy style which is already open and delicious to drink. A line of lemon and lime acidity through the finish cuts through the power and leaves the wine perfectly balanced.
Super old world Burgundian nose with nuances of wet chalk, limestone, apple pastille and lemon and lime lift. Palate is subtle, more restrained, but still steely and fresh, with electric acids, a more linear mouthfeel and again, a very old world, detailed, mineral finish. Impressive.
Very savoury nose with just a hint of struck match. Intensity and vibrancy – very winning already. Bit of a golden boy. Real reverberation. Beautiful balance.
Drink 2018-2030
Deep and rich candied-citrus nose with hints of hazelnuts and fresh herbs. Serious richness and concentration, yet so vibrant and crisp through the very long, mineral finish. Delicious now, but with a bright future ahead of it. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
A step up from the Estate Chardonnay with an exotic, flamboyant character. This is more edgy than the wines that preceded it; the juicy fruit has a crackly, smoky edge. Rich and creamy. Plush. Very good.
