There is enough wood to warrant mentioning on the ripe and slightly exotic nose that blends both white and yellow dried fruit aromas with those of spice and lavender nuances. There is excellent size, weight and punch to the generously proportioned, powerful and tautly muscular flavors that reflect both plenty of minerality and dry extract before concluding in an almost thick yet balanced finale that delivers first-rate length. 2015 is not a particularly elegant vintage for this wine but if your taste runs to bold and rich, this will fit the bill.
Jadot's Chevalier is beautifully differentiated from their more ample, voluminous Batard. Here the aromas are higher-pitched, leading with notes of lemon oil and lemon confit, white flowers and crushed rocks. On the palate the wine is tighter-knit and more vertical; concentrated, crisp and mineral. Tasted side by side, these two grand crus are a masterclass in terroir.
The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Demoiselles has a seductive bouquet of lemon curd, frangipane and orange blossom: well defined with impressive intensity, one that really evokes this vineyard. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple texture, crisp acidity, good weight in the mouth and a tensile finish that leaves traces of lemongrass and black pepper in its wake. This sophisticated Chevalier-Montrachet "Demoiselles" should bestow a couple decades of drinking pleasure.
Reduction presently flattens the underlying fruit. On the plus side there is excellent size, weight and punch to the generously proportioned, powerful and tautly muscular flavors that reflect both plenty of minerality and dry extract before concluding in an almost thick yet balanced finale that delivers first-rate length. 2015 is not a particularly elegant vintage for this wine but once again, there is no lack of character.
