The 2014 Bürgel pinot noir is a really lovely middleweight in the making. The red fruity bouquet is pure and already quite complex, wafting from the glass in a blend of cherries, a touch of blood orange, chalky soil tones, woodsmoke, a very discreet topnote of fresh herbs and just a touch of lead pencil. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and tangy, with a good core, moderate tannins and a very long, focused and light on its feet finish. This will be just a lovely bottle with five or six years’ worth of bottle age. 20201-2050+.
