These fantastic wines from Gitton from the rare Sauvignon Jaune planted in 1959 are raised for 9-11 months in 600 litre oak. The Silex site offers unique, textural wines from a masterful winemaker. The 2014 initially shows notes of nettle, gooseberry, struck flint and a hint of cream. The palate brings superb weight and visceral texture that is cut by bright, taut acidity that brings waves of minerality. The plump and ripe fruit turns to blossom with this fine balance, and the hints of spice complement the textural weight. The finish is long, both savoury and fruitful, and extremely moreish.
